16 February 2010 - The 14th Annual traditional Southwest Shootout is now allowing grade exemptions:

"Age Determining Date/Grade Exception Rule January 1, 2010 (Girls) and September 1, 2010 (Boys) shall be the determining date for the age of the competitor for the SWS . Eligibility to participate is based first on the age determining date. The grade of the athlete is not a consideration if the athlete meets the age determining date. An athlete who does not meet the age determining date may qualify under the grade exception rule. In the 8U/2nd Grade through the 14U/8th Grade division, each team is allowed a maximum of TWO grade exception athletes. There is no limit on the number of grade exception athletes in the Fr/ Soph Grade through the Jr/Sr Senior divisions."

                               The 14th Annual traditional Southwest Shootout has partnered up with CaptainU.                                                    CaptainU is a Chicago-based software company.  They make web-based software that                                            makes college recruiting easy.  Their team is comprised of college recruiting experts,                                             former college coaches, and technology experts.  Their flagship product CaptainU                                                   Recruiting Software provides high school athletes with a complete recruiting toolkit that                                           walks them step-by-step through the recruiting process.

26 February 2010:  Attention  JR/SR   Boys & Girls Divisions

The 2010 14th Annual Southwest Shootout Basketball Tournament will select 12 athletes to the SWS All Tournament team. These athletes will be invited to represent the SWS at the Adidas Super 64 Big Time Tournament to be held  July 22-26, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

28 February 2010 - PayPal payment option is now available through the "Payment Center" Tab on our website.  There is no requirement on your part to have an established PayPal account to complete transaction for Tournament Seat payment.  Coaches, ensure you register with the tournament director via webform first selecting PayPay payment before you purchase your tournament seat via PayPal.

5 March 2010 - Due to booking capacity, the Wyndham and hawthorn Hotel are no longer available for your lodging needs.  The Traditional Southwest Shootout has set up additional lodging at the Chase Suite Hotel.  Visit the Lodging Tab for additional information.

8 March 2010 - Attention Coaches, please visit the new Coaches Tab for tournament forms.  There you will find the Tournament Rules, a Tournament Questionnaire and the required Tournament Entry form needed at check-in.

8 March 2010 - The Directors of the 14th Annual Southwest Shootout Basketball Tournament would like to welcome the New Mexico Force Basketball Club. The Force is one of the top ranked programs in the Southwest. Manty of their athletes that have participated in the Southwest Shootout have gone on to play at all levels of the NCAA. 8 March 2010 - REMINDER......  Coaches, there will be a Coaches Meeting at the Wyndham Hotel near the El Paso Airport on Wednesday the 10th from 5:00 to 10:00 PM! Don't forget :)

16 March 2010 - Coaches, quick reminder that Rosters and final registrations will be accepted tomorrow at the Wyndham Hotel Conference room area.  Please remember to bring signed roster form, birth certificates or city issued I.D.cards. High school divisions please bring current year report cards.  This registration is for local teams only.  All out of town visitors must register before your first game at the same hotel.  Brackets have been delayed because there have been many late registrations.  They will be available on our web page over the weekend along with directions to all gym sites.  If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact any of the SWS staff.  We look forward to seeing you all and wish you the best of luck at the 14th Annual Southwest Shootout Basketball Tournament.
