MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTORS
The Southwest Shootout Basketball Tournament is enjoying its 14th anniversary. As we think back to the first year, we remember all the pitfalls and troubles there were before that very first tip-off. As the tournament grows, the one constant has been that we try to provide the opportunity for local teams that don't get a chance to travel, to play competitive basketball against out of town teams. For that reason our goal is to put on a first class tournament that out-of-town teams want to compete in.
For those of us that have been involved throughout the 14 years, it has gone by fast! At the end of each tournament, we always say, "THIS HAS BEEN OUR BEST TOURNAMENT EVER!" and this year will be no exception. We have been blessed to see so many young stars in progress for the past 13 years from our youngest age group to now our highly competitive Junior/Senior class. What is more rewarding is that many of our own players still participate in the Southwest Shootout either as a volunteer, scorekeeper, or as a coach of their own team. The legacy continues to grow.
We thank all the teams for participating in our 14th Annual Southwest Shootout Basketball Tournament, especially our visitors. We know there is only so much money that can be spent on travel and we appreciate your participation and loyalty.
The directors would like to give a huge "THANKS" to all our volunteers at our 27 gyms and at our headquarters who make this tournament a success each year. Without their tireless efforts, there would be no tournament. Likewise, we are appreciative of our sponsors who have contributed to make the Southwest Shootout a huge success. A very special thanks to the El Paso Sports Commission and Brian Kennedy for your continued guidance and support.
Lastly, for all the fans attending the games, remember that all the athletes that are participating this weekend are just kids playing the game they love...so treat it as such. Be encouraging and supportive. Good Luck to each team and THANK YOU for being a part of the 14th Annual Southwest Shootout Basketball Tournament!!
